If you really want to soak up the sights and sounds of a place, walking is probably your best bet, especially if you are visiting from overseas, would like to save some money on transport, and just plain not in the mood to drive.
Staying at any of our three Hout Bay units, namely Harbour View, The Boardwalk, and Riverview, you will be comfortably ensconced between places for eats and treats. So here are just a few to get you started.

Why not grab an ice cream on you way out? Ice Dream is a cute little Northern Italian restaurant with a selection of Gelato ice creams, of which you can choose between a cup or a cone.

The Workshop Pub

Also known as “The Smallest Pub in Africa!”, and often described as one of Hout Bay’s hidden gems, this rustic pub is worth a stop if you’re in the mood to grab some drinks. Your choices range from cocktails, beers, wine, and whatever else tickles your fancy!

Dario’s Café is a cool, cosy, and family-friendly restaurant that will cater to either breakfast, lunch, or supper. You can bring the kiddies with where a play area is provided, or you can just have a quick bite to eat with the option to sit inside or outside. From cappuccinos to espressos, pizzas, pastas, burgers, and amazing cakes, you can’t go wrong here if you just want to enjoy a good old fashioned café vibe.

River Park

If you’re a runner, or love your morning walks, beautiful scenery abounds here at Riverview with River Park, which is an estimated three minutes’ walk away.

Hout Bay Coffee

Grab a cuppa from some fine coffee roasters right on your doorstep at Hout Bay Coffee, with some snacks and treats available too.

Yesca’s Teahouse

From Dim Sums, dumplings, to Bao Buns, Yesca’s Teahouse is an Asian restaurant worth trying while you’re out and about. Grab a take-away on your walk or just sit for a while and have a Green Tea (if you’re not a coffee drinker that is).

An Indian cuisine restaurant, this is just down the road from dk villas’ The Boardwalk, and if you’re new to town, something different might just add that extra spice to your stay.

So, you’ve had some lunch and just want to do some sightseeing, why not pop into the Hout Bay Gallery? A family-run contemporary art gallery with a selection of sculptures, fine art prints, and paintings by South African artists.

Okay, maybe you’re just not in the mood for Indian food or steaks, then some seafood will do the trick, you can never go wrong with sushi, especially if you’re by the sea! Just a few minutes’ walk away, Nippon Sushi offers take-away or sit-in sushi dining, from soup, stir fry, fried rice and more.

To top it off, remember to take a walk to the expanse of white sand that comprises Hout Bay beach. It is just a few minutes away and you will have just about everything you need to have a fine day out with beautiful views of Chapman’s Peak and beyond.
