Father’s Day is around the corner and it’s time to plan a fun food experience or unique outing for Dad!
With so much on offer in and around Cape Town, there’s no shortage of great ways to spoil your father. Here’s our roundup of some fun, more unusual things to do for Father Day’s 2024:
Spoil Dad with a Lunchtime Braai at The Hyde Hotel
Nothing sets the mood for a promising Father’s Day quite like a good braai and for once, Dad gets to put aside his tongs and let some other braai masters handle the good fare and drinks.
For R349 per person, you can book your dad a lunchtime braai at London Road Bistro, The Hyde Hotel in Sea Point.

This Father Day’s braai lunch includes a choice of lamb chops, chicken skewers, boerewors, potato- or green-salad, sides (like corn, garlic bread or pap), desserts (such as malva pudding with custard or apple crumble) and even a Castle Light or Black Label draught help to wash it all down!
Tickets for this fun Father’s Day braai can be booked online at Webtickets.
Please note: A 12% gratuity fee will be added to the final food and drinks bill for the event.
Give Dad a Whisky Tour or Tasting in Wellington
If Dad is a whisky lover, why not treat him to a uniquely fun whisky tour and tasting at James Sedgwick Distillery in Wellington?
It’s the only commercial whisky distillery in Africa and the home of true South African whiskies.
Intimate distillery tours are conducted on selected Fridays and Saturdays, at 10am and 2pm respectively. So, while you can’t book the experience on Father’s Day itself, it could be something to enjoy with Dad before or after Father’s Day.

Allowing a maximum of 20 guests per tour, these tours include a welcome drink, introduction to the James Sedgwick Distillery and an exciting tour of the whole whisky-making process, which takes you through everything from the raw materials used to the maturation cellars.
The experience concludes with a whisky tasting. (You also have the option to purchase your own whiskies to take home, if desired.)
These distillery tours cost R350 per person and it is essential to book for them in advance. You can book your whisky tasting and tour online via Webtickets.
