The original Clay Cafe branch, situated in Hout Bay, is one of the Western Cape’s most popular spots for good reason.

It offers a lovely child-friendly restaurant and fun ceramic painting that is sure to keep little ones and grown-ups entertained in even the stormiest weather!

And, in fairer weather, there is a wonderful outdoor play area for little ones to burn some energy playing at.

Why Try It?

Another well-loved, long-standing Hout Bay institution is World of Birds. Here, at this wildlife sanctuary and monkey park, young and old can enjoy visiting Africa’s largest bird park.

Home to over 3000 birds (and small animals too), there are more than 100 carefully landscaped walk-through aviaries, spanning across the four-hectare grounds. There is also a lovely Hornbill Cafe and some child-friendly play spaces for little ones to enjoy.

Another world-famous and much loved indoor attraction, perfect no matter the weather ‘above the sea’, so to speak, is the enchanting Two Oceans Aquarium at the dynamic V&A Waterfront.

Best of all, for SA passport or ID holders, the Aquarium is free to visit during your birthday month. Simply put: it’s one Cape Town attraction you really have no excuse missing!
