Enjoy Spooky Halloween Fun in Cape Town 2025

Spooky Halloween

While Halloween is traditionally more popular in the States or even Europe, it has been gaining popularity in Cape Town in recent years. And 2025 promises to be no different!

So whether you enjoy the dress-up factor, dig spooky stories or simply want to Trick or Treat, here are some horrifyingly fun Halloween 2025 events to enjoy in the Mother City this October 31st and beyond:

Catch a ‘Spooktacular’ Film in the Open Air

The Galileo Open Air Cinema makes Halloween frightfully fun each year with their special Halloween-themed screenings and costume events.

This year, on Halloween (31 October) adults (18 and older) can enjoy a night of creepy or quirky costumes at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, as you watch the chilling 2018 Halloween film.

The following night, young and old can crawl out of their crypts for the Kids Halloween Show at Central Park, Century City, where Monsters Inc., a kiddies’ classic, will be playing.

The cost for the Halloween event is R250 per person (it includes the movie screening, a backrest, blanket and popcorn) or R300 per person for reserved seating. Strictly no under 18s.

The November 1st event, meanwhile, will cost R225 per person (it includes the movie screening, a backrest, blanket and popcorn), R275 per person for reserved seating and R175 per child aged 4 - 17.

For both events, doors open at 17:00 pm, with the Halloween movie starting at 19:45 pm. For the kiddies’ film, it will start at 18:45 pm on November 1st.

For more information or to book your tickets, please see The Galileo Open Air Cinema website: https://thegalileo.co.za/movies/.

Get Your Apocalyptic Limp on at the Cape Town Zombie Walk

After an absence of a few years, South Africa’s iconic Halloween event, the Zombie Walk, returns to the streets of Cape Town.

This ghoulish parade is family friendly, exciting and pet-friendly and whether you crawl, limp or walk as normal, there’s plenty of fun to be had.

Best of all, this year’s event, which will take place a day after Halloween on 1 November 2025 between 16:30 - 18:30pm, is in aid of the Lucky Lucy Foundation, an animal rescue organisation who looks after abused or neglected animals in Cape Town.

The Zombie Walk is free, however, donations are most welcome.
There will also be three phases of after-parties that cost R200-R300 per person entry fee, as Phase 1 (priced at R100) is already closed to sales.

For more information or to purchase a ticket, please visit the official website or check out the Quicket link: https://www.quicket.co.za/events/327274-zombie-walk-cape-town-2025/#/.

Tuk It Easy in Hout Bay

Tuk Tuk

Nico Fourie, a man with a keen sense of adventure and zest for life, has launched an exciting new tuk tuk business called Tuk It Easy, which is happily based at Hout Bay’s Harbour Road.

In this post, we share all about Tuk It Easy and the amazing experiences you can enjoy with them!

Taking Things Easy in a Tuk Tuk

What better way to explore Hout Bay and surrounds than via a thrilling tuk tuk ride? Well, I bet that’s what Nico Fourie thought too when he came up with his business, Tuk It Easy.

Nico is a man who loves people and the outdoors. In fact, he has spent his lifetime (he is now in his 70s) chasing sunsets, stories and the magic of the people and world around him.

Now, he’s giving back to travel in a big way with his exciting tuk tuk business, which operates exclusively from Hout Bay. Nico has built his business on the relationships he so easily forms with strangers and old friends alike; he has really harnessed his sense of community and passion for connection, adding plenty of heart and infectious love of travel to his endeavour.

Nico has the belief that, no matter where you are from, there is always “room for one more on this ride”.

Tuk Tuk 2

Standard and Custom Tuk It Easy Tours

While Tuk It Easy primarily offers some standard local tours, including their popular one-hour
Chapman’s Peak Drive experience and five-hour Simon’s Town experience, they can also offer custom tours that suit the traveller’s personal preference.

For their one-hour Chappies tour, you will experience the iconic Chapman’s Peak Drive. The tour starts at the colourful Hout Bay Harbour and offers its guests a wonderful array of coastal views, fresh air, unforgettable memories and moments near the sea and of course, the chance to soak up the beauty of one of the world’s most incredibly engineered, world-famous drives.

Aside from this tour, guests can also book their five-hour Simon’s Town tour. This tour takes guests through some of the Mother City’s finest coastal suburbs, including Hout Bay (with Chappies Drive thereafter), Noordhoek, Misty Cliffs, Scarborough and of course, cheerful, historic Simon’s Town, where proud naval history and incredible natural ocean beauty co-exist harmoniously.

Once done, you will cruise back along the scenic coastline, ending a day of pure Cape magic, fresh ocean air and coastal beauty.

Note: Tuk It Easy tours can operate in most weather conditions but in extreme weather conditions when tours are unsafe and inoperable, the tour experience can be rescheduled or you can opt for a full refund.

For pricing and other information or to book a tour, please see here on Tuk It Easy’s website: www.tukiteasy.co.za/book-online.

Owner and executive chef-meets-entrepreneur, Dominic Carosin brings together nostalgic, traditional French-style cooking and classic French techniques and styling.

Choose between a 7-course menu (with or without pairing) or a 4-course menu (with or without pairing) as you enjoy an elevation of the finest flavours in the most masterful of dishes.

For those seeking a break from the ordinary or simply some excellent French-style cuisine, look no further than the still-new, elegant Restaurant Isabelle, situated at 21 Victoria Avenue, Hout Bay.

Another new gem on the Hout Bay foodie scene is Veldt. Situated in the heart of lovely Hout Bay on 35 Main Road, Veldt showcases how the “primal art of fire cooking meets the soul of South African heritage”.

This braai eatery and smokehouse is big on flavour and fiery components, so it’s no surprise that they offer incredible wood-fire- and smoke-based dishes, made using the best meat cuts and paired with the greatest local wines, beers and other artisanal beverages around.

Beyond the food, Veldt offers a modern, edgy, yet ultimately sleekly rustic dining experience and celebrates the spirit of true community where relaxed, good meals are the order of the day.

Like their website implies, you will probably “come for the food” but “stay for the experience”.

Massimo's

Massimo's

Massimo’s is one of Hout Bay’s most well-loved, longest standing (since 2009, to be precise) food institutions. And after a meal here, you’ll understand just why that is.

From impeccable, warm service to high quality, yet unfussy, good food, Massimo’s really does things well.

This Italian eatery and pizzeria is a Hout Bay favourite and one of the more charming restaurants in the Mother City. With everything from dog-friendly vibes to vegan and pizza and pasta delicacies, they provide some great variety all on their own.

For a heartfelt, memorable meal, there are few better places to dine in Hout Bay than Massimo’s.

A Look into Cape Town’s Dynamic Old Biscuit Mill

The Old Biscuit Mill

The Old Biscuit Mill, situated in the Mother City’s historic Woodstock suburb, offers a vibrant community, where talented folk come together to showcase and share their passions, goods and wares with others.

Here, visitors can explore a fascinating, underrated local attraction (that is, the Old Biscuit Mill), while also rubbing shoulders with gifted creatives, from photographers to designers and everyone in between!

The Mill, as it’s fondly known, is home to everything from office spaces, workshops and designer stores to highly rated eateries, market food stalls. What’s more, it often plays host to the weekly market, as well as festivals and other fun events.

In this post, we provide a look into the Mill and offer some suggestions on how best to discover and enjoy this unique Cape Town offering:

Savour Local Art and Crafts

Jewellery

At the Old Biscuit Mill, you’ll find a healthy dose of art galleries and talented artisans. From jewellers, like Botanica Jewellery and Auterra Jewellery, to the art galleries, like Hamilton Gallery or Life and Death Art and Fashion Gallery, there really is something to inspire you, get those creative juices flowing or simply allow you to purchase a treasured keepsake for your own home.

Art

(To discover the full range of art gallery- or art-and-design-options, simply select the appropriate filter on the Mill’s handy website.)

And if art and design aren’t quite your cup of tea, that’s okay because the Mill has some great shopping and fashion options too, like Mia Melange, The Silk Lady, Breazies and Rubyyes.

Be Part of the Food Experience

Restaurants

While the Old Biscuit Mill is famously well-loved for its weekend Neighbourgoods Market, you can still visit the Mill during the week for some delicious eats and treats.

Eateries like Redemption Burgers, The Test Kitchen Fledglings (TTK), The Potluck Club or even Espresso Lab Microroasters offer some great options outside of the normal weekend market.

So if you’re a foodie needing a fix, pop into the Old Biscuit Mill to try one of these (and others besides!).

Make a Stop at the Popular Neighbourgoods Market

Neighbourgoods

One of Cape Town’s most popular, vibey markets is the Neighbourgoods Market. Every weekend (Saturday and Sunday), come rain or shine, this market brings the Old Biscuit Mill to life with a buzzing sensory experience.

Whether you visit for the beats, eats or crafts, this market is a must-see for visitors and locals in the Mother City.

It’s a fun place to sample new food and drinks, shop for fashion and goods and meet likeminded people.

Confectionaries

Note: Parking can be limited though so, if you have a bicycle, the market is very bicycle-friendly (just bring a bike lock!).

Alternatively, you can catch the MyCiti Bus Route 261, which stops at the Old Biscuit Mill. For another option, Route 102 stops about 100 metres away in Salt River Road.

These are just a few of the best reasons to visit the marvellous Mill!
