Summer Picnics to Enjoy near Hout Bay

In this post, we share some beautiful summer picnics to enjoy near Hout Bay:

1) Cape Point Vineyards (Noordhoek)

This gorgeous wine farm, which offers a slice of Atlantic beauty, edged by the impressive Table Mountain, is the perfect place to enjoy an incredible picnic, with views second to none.

Thanks to the estate’s vast lawns, which overlook a beautiful dam, you can enjoy a feast of the senses as you tuck into Cape Point Vineyards’ specially curated summer picnics, which are available daily between 12:00 pm - 17:00 pm, although pre-booking via their website is a must.

With the vineyard breeze, delicious food and exceptional wines (if you choose to try some), the fragrant smells of the indigenous fynbos and the beauty of a warm Cape summer, you are guaranteed an incredible, scenic picnic experience.

Choose between the standard, vegan or vegetarian picnic baskets, which can serve either one or two guests as desired.

To drink, you can order wines, cocktails, beer and cider, rum, gin, soft drinks, hot beverages and much more, although drinks are paid for separately.

2) Grub & Vine Norval

While Grub & Vine also has a lovely Bree Street branch, Grub & Vine Norval, situated at the Norval Foundation, offers incredible picnic experiences.

Under the guidance of Chef Patron Matt Manning, a man who needs little introduction on the Cape Town food scene, and team, this eatery also serves bistro-style fare, paired with beautiful wines in one of the most stunning Winelands settings.

Summer picnics are impressively enjoyed among Norval Foundation’s eye-catching Sculpture Gardens. Each picnic, which includes either access to the Sculpture Gardens or, for an extra fee, to the Museum as well. You can pre-book your picnic and collect it on the allotted day but just be advised that there are only 20 picnic baskets available per day.

Picnics at Grub & Vine Norval can be enjoyed Friday to Sunday, from 12:00 pm - 16:00 pm.

If you wish to savour some wine with your perfect, curated picnic spread, you can purchase some from Grub & Vine Norval. Alternatively, ask your server about a wine tasting flight. On Saturdays and Sundays, you can also have Bottomless Bubbles as an add-on.
