From Adderley’s famous Christmas light display to the cheerful craft markets, festive fairs and other fun experiences that crop up this time of year, it is reasonable to say that the Mother City truly goes all out when it comes to Christmas, especially for a South African city.

Our first market in the Southern Suburbs is the South Market. This feel-good family Christmas market takes place annually. It’s run by passionate organisers who care about supporting local and showcasing crafts made within their local community.

This festive market promises a slick, cheery indoor market experience, with some 6500+ products available. There are gifts, homeware, children’s toys, snacks and much more.

Outside, guests can also enjoy a nice coffee or bite to eat in the food section, while little ones will love the dedicated kiddies’ play area, which includes jumping castles, colouring-in stations and soft play.

Simply Gifts Market (Newlands)

This Newlands-based market, set up at the prestigious Sans Souci High School, is a beautiful mix of careful creations and local skills on displayl. It is free to enjoy, offers plenty of parking and above all, it promises a truly relaxing shopping experience.

This market offers gorgeous products, from homeware goods to homemade jams, sauces and even cute kiddies’ gifts. There really is something for everyone here.

With some 230+ exhibitors, this market makes Christmas shopping easier for the whole family. Just be advised that they are a cashless shopping experience with one central pay point (card facilities).

What’s more, the market also supports Imbali Western Cape, a charity that helps uplift communities through various creative missions.

This short but sweet six-day-long indoor market might not be around for a long time but it nevertheless promises a good time, with plenty of excellent goodies and gifts available to shoppers.

The market promises some 120 different exhibitors and there are both credit- and debit-card facilities available to ensure an easy breezy festive shopping experience for the whole family.
